Environmental Health The Environmental Health Division administers sixteen environmental programs in an effort to ensure the health and safety of the residents of Clinton County. The Environmental Health Division is responsible for minimizing threats to our water resources and public health by abating public health nuisances not covered by mandated programs. Through the inspection process, these programs promote continuing sanitation and maintenance practices that protect the public health, welfare and safety. Providing information and education is another service of the Environmental Health Division. Our staff offers presentations on all programs, from groundwater protection to rabies control regarding dog bites. The Environmental Health Division is comprised of two subdivisions: The Sanitation and Safety Division inspects and regulates food service operations, public pools and spas, manufactured home parks, RV/campground parks, and solid waste facilities. All of these programs are required by the State of Ohio (state mandated programs) to be inspected and regulations to be enforced to ensure public health and safety. All state mandated programs are surveyed by the Ohio Department of Health to ensure compliance is being maintained in all programs/facilities. Related Links:

Department of Health The Groundwater Protection Division monitors the
Household Sewage and Private Water System programs. The Household Sewage program
regulates the design and installation of all household sewage systems throughout
the county. This division also inspects all proposed lots, which are under five
acres in size, to ensure their ability to support an
on-site sewage disposal
system. The Private Water System program monitors and ensures compliance with
the Ohio Department of Health regulation for the development of a well, cistern,
spring, pond, or hauled water storage tank for the use of a private water
supply. The Groundwater Protection Division also inspects and monitors the
semi-public septic systems. |
